Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a Gram-negative opportunistic pathogen responsible for nosocomial pneumonia. It possesses a multitude of virulence factors including type IV pili that mediate adhesion to host cells. It is also the major cause of mortality among cystic fibrosis (CF) patients.
