Genes encoding homologs to the eukaryotic dolichol-phosphate-D-mannose, protein O-D-mannosyltransferase (SCO3154, Pmt), and dolichol-phosphate-mannose synthase (SCO1423, Ppm1) have been found to be essential for phage (phi)C31 infection and sensitivity in S. coelicolor. Glycosylation has a role in the infection by phage.
